Phidippus Otiosus — Gave macro photography a try and I think it turned out quite well. Jumping spiders love light and you need a ton of it indoors - really challanging with such an active spider!

Seealpsee — The circular hike around lake "Seealpsee" (1141 meters above sea level) is a light and shadow spectacle due to the geographical exposure. The lake can be reached after a short but very steep ascent starting from Wasserauen (Appenzell Innerrhoden).

Lismore Castle — Built in 1185, the Lismore Castle (Irish: Caisleán an Lios Mhóir) is the Irish home of the Duke of Devonshire. The upper and lower gardens, which are open to the public, are a definitive MUST-SEE - especially in spring or autumn!

Messe Basel — One of the architectural masterpieces of my hometown is the modified exhibition square by local and world-famous architects Herzog & De Meuron in 2013. Amongst other things, the exhibitions "Basel World" and "Basel Art" are taking place in these halls.

Tysfjord — On our way back from Hinnøya to Bodø, we discovered a beautiful site close to the E6. The shore was deserted, the air filled with salt and I felt a light post-summer wind on my skin. A magic moment captured into a picture.

Tjeldbergtinden — After hitting the peak of one of the bigger mountains on Austvågøya called Tjellbergtinden, the sun was at a perfect angle to capture the interaction between light and shade over the luscious green landscape.

Hamnøy Harbor — The light during midsummer couldn't be better. Good weather conditions almost 24 hours a day, perfect light and a unique color composition are what photographers' dreams are made of (except the mosquito bites!).

Ågotvatnet Lake — Our first hike around Kvalvika beach was promising and exhausting at once - a perfect start on the Lofoten archipelago. Don't underestimate the cliffs, light climbing is needed to complete the round trip - but it's worth the effort!

Sassi di Matera — The historical center of Matera called "Sassi" (originated from prehistoric cave dwellers) is considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO since 1993.

Santuario di Viggiano — The "Santuario della Madonna di Viggiano" (Basilicata) is the summer residence of the black Madonna. The village procession takes place twice a year, in May she is brought up on the villagers shoulders - in September she is doing the opposite way.

Pollino — The biggest national park in Italy is located within Calabria and Basilicata and compromises 1820km². It takes its name from the Pollino Massif (highest peak 2'267m).

Dolomiti Lucane — The similarities with the Dolomites in northern Italy gave the mountain range its name. The villages around the massif were emerged in the 5th century BC provide an inviting environment.

Mount Fuji — Mount Fuji (Fuji-san) is the highest mountain peak in Japan and an active stratovolcano that last erupted in the 18th century. For a cloudless view, you have to get up as early as possible and cross a lot of fingers (I wasn't early enough)!

Osaka Castle — Osaka Castle is one of Japan's most famous landmarks, which was almost completely destroyed during World War II. Since the finished restoration in 1997, the concrete reproduction of the castle is used as a museum.

Las Hoyas — There are a few volcanic crater around Las Hoyas and Guinate, I decided to climb a deserted one without a ready-to-hike trail. Good hiking footware / pants and water are recommended - it can get very hot and it won't be a walk in the park.

Cueva de los Verdes — The multilevel lava tube "Cueva de los Verdes" was created around 3'000 years ago by lava flows erupted from the nearby volcano Monte Corona. The impressive cave walls are illuminated by colorful lights (too much for my taste).

Los Hervideros — Los Hervideros means "The Boiling Place" in Spanish and it refers to the impression that the atlatic water is boiling against the rocks as it smashes into them. The water is forced into these passages and "bubbles" and "steams" quite dramatically.

Porto — Just a few steps away from the cathedral "Sé do Porto" I found this amazing view. This image contains a lot of daily life aspects I was hoping to capture during our short stay in Portugal.

São Bento — I like to play with light and shadows: The monastery built in 1535 and now used as a train station in the middle of Porto called São Bento is the perfect spot at night. And during the day, get amazed by the stories the 20'000 wall tiles tell you.

Torre dos Clérigos — Relax on the green rooftop of Praça de Lisboa - between olive trees, on warm grass and with an ice cold local beer. That was an awesome afternoon - and with a solid Torre dos Clérigos shot!

Métro Paris — Abbesses is one of the most beautiful Paris Métro Stations, located in the Montmartre district. The station’s entrance is one of only two original glass-covered Hector Guimard entrances (édicules) left in Paris.

Eiffel Tower — The Eiffel Tower was initially criticised by some of France's leading artists, architects and intellectuals for its design. Nowadays, the tower planned by engineers and built with 7'300 tons of puddled iron, is the most visited monument in the world.

Pont de Bir-Hakeim — The pont de Bir-Hakeim - whitch was build between 1903 and 1905 - connects the city's 15th and 16th arrondissements and offers a great view of Paris (especially by night with the Eiffel Tower's illuminations!).

Cimetiere Montmartre — Vaslav Njinsky was a ballet dancer and cited as the greatest male dancer of the early 20th century. The statue shows Nijinsky as the puppet "Petrushka", one of his most famous roles in the same-titled balet burlesque.

Arc de Triomphe — The Arc de Triomphe stands in the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle at the western end of the Champs-Élysées and honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars.

Namiseom Island — Namiseom (also just called "Nami"), originated from General Nami who died during the raign of King Sejo, is a tiny half-moon shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea. It is fully surrounded by the Han River and is only accessible by boat.

Songdo New City — In Songdo City, the transformation is on fast forward - the main project should end in 2020. It's even more impressive, if you can directly compare "old" against new structures.

Songdo New City — Songdo City is a smart city built from scratch on reclaimed land along Incheon’s waterfront, soutwest of Seoul, South Korea. The 10 year project is estimated to cost $40 billion, making it one of the most expensive development projects ever undertaken.

Granville Island — Granville Island is a peninsula and cultural district in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is known for its Art and Design university, various shopping opportunities and its beautiful sight at night.

Valley of Fire — A geologic adventure into no-man's-land - The Valley of Fire has 2000 year old petroglyphs carved into massive red sandstone formations in the Mohave Desert. Las Vegas just 80km away, the difference could hardly be more extreme.

Tofino Sunrise — Tofino is a small district at the southern edge of Clayoquot Sound on Vancouver Island, BC Canada. It's a surfing paradise in summer and a quiet spot during stormy winters.
